Yew Tree Canine Society was formed in November 2007 by a group of like-minded friends in the dog showing world. We all felt the need to create, not just another Ringcraft but a Society so that in the future could hold Limit, All Breeds and Fun Dog Shows. Original members were ourselves, Colin, Handler/Trainer/exhibitor of Siberian Huskies. Tom,Lorraine and Stephen, exhibitors of Bullmastiffs and Neapolitan Mastiffs and Jo,Trainer/handler/exhibitor of Shiba Inu, a Great Dane and a Beagle. Yew Tree then trained once a week at The Grange in Bilborough. As time went by the demand for our training was needed more widespread so we opened up another venue at Owthorpe where we held our first Limit Show and our very first Fun Dog Show in 2008. Owthorpe closed in 2009 due to change of use for the venue. After a short time we moved from The Grange to St Johns Church Hall in Hucknall still keeping as local as we could. We found a new Fun Dog Show venue with the kind permission of Monty the Landlord at our now regular event ground at The Griffins Head Field at Papplewick, Nottinghamshire. So far to date we have raised over £2500 for various dog and human charities around the Nottinghamshire area. As time goes by we have lost trainers but others have joined us with many of our members helping tirelessly at all our shows, a big thanks to Mark and Wendy (Irish Red and White) for your consistent help and contributions at our fun dog shows as well as many others whom we owe a debt of gratitude. In 2009 we opened up a northern venue, due to demand, at the Inky Club near Inkersall, Chesterfield. Sadly with the demise of many Social Clubs we had to move and so we went to the Community Centre at Mastin Moor near Chesterfield in 2010. We had a good few months here including a lovely Xmas Party but once again, as our numbers increased as well as the size of dogs, we decided to move, now to our new bigger venue, with plenty of grass at Unstone near Chesterfield. In 2010 we moved from Hucknall to a bigger venue at St Margarets  Church Hall, Aspley, Nottinghamshire, a lovely bigger hall, where we are at presently.  We have helping with training, Charlotte, exhibitor of Golden Retrievers. Charlotte’s Mum and Dad, Michael and Wendy, are a big help in the Kitchen at Aspley......we really appreciate your help so much. In 2011 we opened our third venue at The East Kirkby Miners Welfare at Kirkby in Ashfield. A lovely big venue which we found great for holding training and our monthly Match Nights. Sadly, once again, Kirkby was closed down and demolished, and we moved to Acacia Centre, Kirkby and continued there for for another 3 yrs. We moved from The Acacia centre, kast year, to a smaller venue round the corner at Annesley but we were unable  to cope with the size of the venue, At the beginning of 2015, we decided to take our training more towards Newark and found a lovely venue at Boughton, nr Ollerton where we are at present. Yew Tree has seen many ups and downs, mainly venues but always muddled through, with the help of many dedicated members whose help, support and time which is given voluntaryly, we are extremely grateful for, without you we wouldn’t exist and be known today as Nottinghamshire’s most premier training Society
